Only civilizations that can adapt and are resilient can hope to be sustainable. Adaptation and resilience are many-faceted challenges, with many drivers like climate change, resource scarcity and increasing demands. It is clear that without carefully planned interventions of science and technology effective adaptation and resilience cannot be achieved. The conference on STARS will focus on various issues related to adaptation and resilience like imminent and future threats and vulnerability, S&T options available and in the horizon (Technology Foresight) and appropriate policy interventions at global and regional scale.

Jorhat Travel / Weather

The venue of the conference is at Kaziranga University campus located at Jorhat, Assam( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorhat ) about 75km away from Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Nature has blessed the state of Assam with abundance. With verdant open areas, sprawling tea gardens overlooking the hills and the blessings of river Brahmaputra, Jorhat has all the ingredients to make a ruffled mind calm and peaceful. It is also a place with deep cultural heritage where artists from different tribes and ethnicity have made their mark.

The city of Jorhat is well connected by rail, road and air modes of transport. For visitors, the most convenient way of reaching Jorhat is by Air (airport code: JRH).

The climate in Jorhat is warm and temperate. November is usually one of the best months to travel with little rainfall and average temperature being around 21 C (70 F).
